Paul
Beretz brings over thirty years experience
in providing solutions for global management
and finance within low and high tech industries
- chemicals, forest products, semi-conductors
and telecommunications among others.
Highlights:
Formulated a "best practice" strategy
to improve process issues negatively impacting
the accounts receivable for a $1B software
provider:
· The result was a ten day reduction
in DSO (days sales outstanding) in one quarter;
re-organized the department and re-defined
and created new departmental job descriptions;
authored a "desk procedure" for
world-wide operations which provided - for
the first time - a consistency in understanding
and maximizing the credit and collection process.
Provided
expertise to resolving accounts receivable
issues resulting from the merger of two global
manufacturers with $25B in combined revenue:
· Assisted the "Integration Team"
to develop worldwide action plans impacting
personnel, facility locations and the accounts
receivable process.
Established
accounts receivable goals and process improvements
for a thirty-year old distributor of floor
covering:
· Evaluated capabilities of finance
and operations organization; instigated an
"order to collect" task force that
improved
customer satisfaction and accounts receivable
quality.
As
an expert witness, successfully represented
a $2B manufacturer of computer platforms,
peripherals and storage products by testing
and validating credit department policies
and procedures.
Lead
98-yr. old theatrical lighting company as
a part-time, acting GM:
· Doubled revenue and reversed prior
year's losses resulting in a six-figure profit
for the same six-month period; instituted
upgrades in business controls, sales and marketing
procedures and company structure.
Initiated
tactical and strategic processes for service/wholesale-oriented,
twenty-five year old company in the automotive
related industry:
· Guided the new president, son of
the founder, and three key operation managers
to understand and execute defined areas of
responsibility (e.g., evaluating the needs
of the market place and competition; establishing
personnel performance measures and standards
and utilizing budgeting and forecasting tools).
AFFILIATIONS:
Paul
has been an adjunct faculty member at the
University of California, Berkeley and currently
is an instructor in management and finance
for St. Mary's College and the U. of Phoenix.
In addition, he is in demand as a speaker,
often for the National Association of Credit
Management (NACM) and the Finance Credit International
Business (FCIB) . He covers a wide range of
subjects from cash flow management techniques
to customs and practices in international
business. Paul has authored articles for several
trade magazines, edited books on financial
management and authored a book for the American
Management Association.
Paul
received his BBA from the University of Notre
Dame, an MBA from Golden Gate University and
the Executive Award from the Graduate School
of Credit and Financial Management at Stanford
University. In May 2001, he completed the
requirements for the CICE designation (Certified
International Credit Executive) awarded by
FCIB.
